Scottish Students On Screen

Scottish Students On Screen

Scottish Students on Screen will take place Friday, 14 March at the Centre for Contemporary Arts, Glasgow.

We are delighted to announce an exciting programme packed with sessions that will give students rare insight into the moving image industry. One highlight is a very special masterclass, sponsored by Creative Loop. Our guest will be producer Barry Mendel, whose credits include Munich, The Royal Tenenbaums, and The Sixth Sense.

Other SSOS 2008 highlights will include Pitch! a live pitching competition where one lucky student will win a £1000 commission & web broadcast from 4Talent. There will also be postproduction workshops hosted by Apple computers where participants will learn all about the trade from top industry professionals. Students will also get a unique chance to sit in on a discussion panel chaired by Stuart Cosgrove (head of Nations & Regions, Channel 4) with senior representatives from Channel 4, BBC Scotland, stv, The Edinburgh International Film Festival, and Scottish Screen. The audience will discover what they look for in new work and have the opportunity to question the panellists.

SSOS is an event that aims to foster stronger links between students, lecturers and the moving image industry. All media students and those who work in the industry are invited to attend. Sponsored by Scottish Screen and managed by BAFTA Scotland, it is both a student film festival showcasing the best student films in Scotland, and a conference for students. The day is filled with workshops, screenings, talks and a masterclass. SSOS will be held Friday 14th March from 10am-5pm at the CCA in Glasgow followed by a special awards ceremony for emerging talent at 6:30 pm at the RSAMD in Glasgow. Tickets for the day's event are £10 (£5 for students/lecturers of member institutions) and can be purchased through the CCA box office at 0141 352 4900.

Congratulations to this year’s nominees, now available to view along with winners marked in blue.
